3D scanning has quietly moved from lab environments into everyday creative work. As it becomes more mainstream, users now expect tools that are faster, more accessible, and flexible enough to adapt to a wide range of objects.
The EINSTAR 3D scanners were developed with that shift in mind. Instead of pushing a single all-purpose device, the lineup focuses on practical scanning scenarios, offering tools that prioritize portability, usability, and flexibility for creators and prosumers working outside controlled environments.
EINSTAR is powered by SHINING 3D, a company whose experience extends far beyond entry-level scanning. Founded in 2004, SHINING 3D has spent more than two decades developing metrology-grade 3D scanning and inspection technologies, delivering single-digit-micron accuracy for demanding industrial and medical applications including aviation, automotive manufacturing, energy, electronics, and dentistry.
This background shaped how the EINSTAR was engineered. While positioned as an entry-level handheld 3D scanner, EINSTAR draws on the same technical foundations and development culture that underpin SHINING 3D’s metrology measurement systems.

Still EINSTAR, Now Even Better
The original EINSTAR 3D scanner laid the groundwork by turning SHINING 3D’s metrology expertise into something everyday creators could actually use. It delivered clean geometry capture, strong material adaptability, and approachable software that lowered the barrier to entry. That approachability still defines the series, even as newer models stretch what a handheld scanner can be.
The EINSTAR 2 3D scanner addresses one of the original EINSTAR’s key limitations by significantly improving detail capture on small objects while expanding freedom of movement through a true wireless design. Its hybrid light system, combining blue laser technology with infrared VCSEL, ensures stable tracking across a wide range of object sizes and materials, providing operators with high flexibility in both indoor and outdoor working environments. So it’s ideal for automotive components, reverse engineering, and a variety of creative applications.
With cable-free operation, a swappable battery, and full-color capture, EINSTAR 2 is designed for users who want studio-quality scans without the constraints of a fixed setup. Its high-density 17 parallel blue laser lines plus infrared hybrid system enables full-size coverage and efficient scanning, from screw-sized mechanical parts to vehicle interiors, and from controlled indoor environments to outdoor scanning. The scanner balances detail and ease of use for creators, hobbyists, and technical users alike.

As a pocket-sized scanner, the EINSTAR Rockit 3D scanner offers a streamlined way to capture detailed scans in situations where larger equipment simply does not fit. It is designed for users who spend their days in garages, workshops, or any environment that rarely accommodates controlled setups.
The EINSTAR Rockit prioritizes speed, efficiency, and scan quality in time-sensitive environments. Its compact body integrates a laser and infrared hybrid light system that ensures rapid scanning and high-quality results across a wide range of applications, from intricate small parts to large-scale objects. With 38 cross laser lines optimized for fast, large-area capture and 7 parallel laser lines dedicated to fine feature acquisition, Rockit delivers strong productivity in time-sensitive automotive and production workflows.
Marker-free laser scanning enables fast capture of feature-rich objects without preparation, reducing setup time and simplifying operation for both beginners and experienced users. For example, a detailed engine bay can be digitized without the complex and time-consuming step of applying tracking markers.
With smooth tracking and capture speeds of up to 90 fps (with marker alignment), Rockit consistently produces high-quality point clouds for both small parts and larger objects. Its built-in Wi-Fi module supports a true wireless workflow, connecting directly to a PC for stable, real-time data transfer, making Rockit well suited to time-sensitive automotive and mobile scanning applications.

EXStar Hub is an intuitive software platform for EINSTAR Rockit and EINSTAR 2. It streamlines workflows through a unified interface, reduces system load, and improves performance, allowing faster scanning, greater mobility, and lower operating costs. With enhanced visuals and simplified controls, EXStar Hub also provides powerful tools for model processing and optimization.
Bringing usability and portability of 3D scanning to a new level
For users who want a scanner that carries its entire workflow within the device itself, the EINSTAR VEGA 3D scanner pushes portability even further.
As an all-in-one device, EINSTAR VEGA prioritizes portability and independence from external hardware. With onboard computing and a built-in display, it allows users to scan, transfer, and share data anywhere without investing in a high-performance computer or planning around a fixed workspace.
EINSTAR VEGA is built around two scanning technologies in one device, enabling comprehensive object scanning across a wide range of sizes. Fast Mode is designed for medium to large objects, supporting smooth 3D data capture and delivering clear, stable results both indoors and outdoors, day or night. HD Mode is optimized for small to medium objects, focusing on capturing highly detailed geometry and intricate features while providing a seamless tracking experience.
With its built-in 48-megapixel RGB camera, EINSTAR VEGA captures lifelike colors, making it particularly well suited for artists, designers, and outdoor professionals working in digital archiving, heritage preservation, 3D modeling, and AR/VR content creation, where mobility, scale, and simplicity matter more than laser-based precision.

EinScan Rigil, a professional handheld 3D scanner pushes into professional territory but keeps the flexibility that defines SHINING 3D’s portable scanner lineup.
As the world’s first Tri-Mode 3D scanner integrating built-in computing, wireless connectivity, and hybrid light technology, Rigil delivers a fully integrated workflow that eliminates the traditional compromise between computing power and flexibility.
Created to meet the diverse 3D modeling requirements of automotive aftermarket prosumers, it combines fast data capture, efficient professional workflows, and flexible deployment to support high-quality model generation across a wide range of applications. Its Standalone, Wireless PC, and Wired PC modes remove the traditional trade-off between computing power and flexibility while enabling extremely fast, marker-free laser scanning.
Rigil delivers volumetric accuracy of 0.04 + 0.06 mm/m and geometric resolution of up to 0.05 millimeters. Its hybrid light system combines 19+19 crossed laser lines, 7 parallel blue laser lines, and infrared VCSEL. Paired with dual camera systems, this ensures reliable performance across a wide range of object sizes and surface types.
With powerful onboard hardware and software, Rigil reduces the need for a separate high-end computer, helping professional users lower overall system costs while maintaining peak scanning performance.
