Anycubic Unveils Kobra and Photon M3 Series

April 6, 2022 |

April 4, 2022 Leave a Comment Anycubic has unveiled two new series of printers that will appeal to fans of resin and FDM printers alike. Last week Anycubic announced their Kobra series FDM printers, which come in two different sizes, and also their Anycubic Photon M3 series of resin printers. Features include Anycubic LeviQ auto bed leveling technology and the Anycubic LighTurbo matrix light source that provides a radically improved user-friendly experience and superb print details. Let’s look in some detail at what these new product lines have to offer. Kobra Series The Kobra is an easy-to-assemble FDM printer that comes in two sizes, the Kobra, with its 22 x 22 x 25 cm build volume and the Kobra Max with its 45 x 40 x 40 cm build volume. At a retail price of $569.00, that’s quite a large print area for the money, and with the 40x40cm bed, it fills…    read more

AM Homes Used for Flood Relief

March 25, 2022 |

March 24, 2022 Leave a Comment There is often much talk of the potential benefits of using additive manufacturing to produce emergency housing for those in areas experiencing disaster, but seldom do we get to see these ideas manifest. Citizens of the city of Merritt, British Columia, have recently experienced floods in their region and have (unfortunately) been given the opportunity to test such solutions. Last year, heavy rains flooded the area displacing hundreds of residents from their homes and wreaking havoc on infrastructure. The entire city was evacuated pending the waters subsiding. When the water did finally back off, the slowly returning citizens were greeted by the devastation and the urgent need to rebuild. While the city is slowly being repaired, residents know that it could take months before their homes are made liveable again, and so sought out a means to provide temporary homes in a short period…    read more

Sennheiser Releases Space-grade AM Headphones

March 22, 2022 |

March 14, 2022 Leave a Comment 3D printed products that you can put inside your ear are not a new thing. The majority of hearing aid devices have been 3D printed for years. Indeed beyond the world of custom medical devices, headphone manufacturers such as Sennheiser have already been experimenting with printed plastic headphones for a while now. But has anyone used space-grade amorphous alloys in a set of printed headphones? They have now. Image Credit: Sennheiser Furthering their ventures into 3D printed headphone products, Sennheiser has recently released their printed metal in-ear headphone (named as “IE 600”), which has been printed with a zirconium-based amorphous alloy. This same alloy is currently being used on Mars where it is being used as the drill head on the Mars Perseverance rover. This particular alloy is prized for its strength, elasticity, biocompatibility and corrosion resistance. The amorphous nature of the metal allows…    read more

Modix Announces New Upgrades – 3D Printing

March 19, 2022 |

March 19, 2022 Leave a Comment Modix, the Israeli printer company known for building fairly big and sturdy machines at very reasonable prices has got some new hardware and features out, and have released a couple of videos to show them in action. So let’s take a look. Griffin Print Head The Modix printers are set in a steel frame, making it a sturdy and reliable platform for those precision linear rails upon which everything moving rests. So with all this rigidity abound, you probably want an equally sturdy print head, right? Similar to the previous print head / structure found on Modix printers, this is made from bent steel sheets forming a totally rigid enclosure. Inside the structure sits a new extruder designed in collaboration with Bondtech, and also a custom hotend, designed with Slice Engineering. The design includes the advanced Slice Engineering Bi-Metal heat-break that extends the melting…    read more
