German Company Designs AM Moon Bike

January 9, 2022 |

October 26, 2021 Leave a Comment Dresden-based motorbike company Hookie has recently revealed a concept for a Moon bike, which features 3D printed polymer wheels. The bike is named Tardigrade, after the small creature famed for its ability to survive the hard vacuum and radiation environment of space. According to the Hookie website, the bike was named as such because “Tardigrades are true survivors who have also endured the rigors of outer space.”, and we guess the bike can do the same. And this is what it looks like: The Tardigrade bike (Image credit: Hookie) The bike is fully electric, obviously, because you’d have difficulty running an internal combustion engine on the Moon, with the lack of oxygen (and gas stations) and whatnot. In terms of other stats, the concept bike measures 2.6 metres in length, has a range of 110km, a top speed of 15km/h and a weight of…    read more

Flashforge Creator 4 Out Now

January 6, 2022 |

November 2, 2021 3 Comments Flashforge has announced the release of their new dual extruding printer with a heated chamber, named the “Creator 4”. The Creator 4 comes in a variety of dual-extruder configurations enabling side-by side printing of duplicate parts for faster printing of larger production runs for a range of filaments. This is not surprising, as Flashforge have traditionally made printers that look more like household appliances than your average printer manufacturer. Enclosure design is clearly a strong point for Flashforge, and the new design highlights this, as you can see. Figure 1 The Creator 4 is appliance-esque. (Image credit: Flashforge) It is a pretty machine, no doubt about it. But there is more to it than mere aesthetics. Let’s take a look under the steel hood…    read more

Read on to know more about the new add-ons from Modix. Reliability at Scale Large format FDM printing is an entirely different ballgame when compared to desktop sized machines. Scaling up the print dimensions can introduce all kinds of new issues to printer reliability, and given that large printers produce larger parts, the last thing you want is your large-scale printer failing 75% of its way into a 400 hour print job. For this reason and others, Modix has introduced new modular upgrades for their line of large printers designed to improve quality and reliability of the printing process from start to finish.
