Evatronix launches the EviXscan 3D Optima+ M 3D scanner – technical specifications and pricing

January 21, 2022 |

Polish 3D scanner manufacturer Evatronix has announced the launch of its latest eviXscan 3D scanner, the 3D Optima+ M. The eviXscan 3D Optima+ M 3D scanner replaces the company’s Heavy Duty Optima model for which production ceased earlier this year, and is designed for the precise scanning of medium-sized objects. Compared to its predecessor, the Optima+ M’s scanning time is four times shorter at 1.2 seconds, and the scanning area is increased by 43 percent. The Optima+ M is designed to be integrated into robotized measurement systems and can also be used in reverse engineering, non-contact quality control and rapid prototyping. “We designed Optima+ M to make it as versatile as possible in various industries,” said Szymon Ścibik, leader of the R&D team at Evatronix. “Thanks to the proper selection of components, we managed to create a measuring device that achieves high accuracy results while maintaining a large scanning area.”…    read more

Calibry 3D scanner streamlines Italy’s cycling aerodynamics for Tokyo Olympics

January 18, 2022 |

A Calibry 3D scanner from Russian handheld 3D scanner developer Thor3D has been used by the Italian national cycling team to improve their aerodynamics in preparation for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.  Cycling brands Pinarello and Hardskin, who are responsible for supplying the national team with bicycles and sportswear, turned to Thor3D’s partner in Italy, 3DiTALY, to digitize the bikes and athletes using 3D scanning. The scans were then used to enhance the aerodynamic efficiency of the Italian athletes in the lead-up to this year’s Olympic Games.  Calibry 3D scanning Thor3D first introduced its Calibry 3D scanner at TCT Asia in February 2019; the first offering from the firm to use its own proprietary camera. The handheld scanner was designed to scan historically challenging medium and large objects, such as full-body scans and entire cars.  With its name drawing influence from a hummingbird due to its reduced weight and size, the…    read more

Artec Leo 3D scanning helps Vorteq create “world’s fastest” cycling skinsuits for Olympic athletes

January 6, 2022 |

Sports performance brand Vorteq has turned to Luxembourg-based 3D scanner manufacturer Artec 3D to create custom-fitted aerodynamic skinsuits for cyclists. Using a combination of Artec’s Leo 3D scanner, wind tunnels and engineering, Vorteq has designed what it claims to be one of the “world’s fastest” cycling skinsuits. The skinsuits are currently being worn by five different Olympic athletes at this year’s Tokyo Olympics, and are designed to be lightweight, breathable, and significantly reduce drag. “Our mission is to help serious athletes, many of whom are already at the top of their game or near, find those many ‘tiny’ gains that when you add them all together, can really give an athlete the kind of edge that helps them surge over the top and on to victory,” said Sam Quilter, Metrology Engineer at Vorteq. “In contrast to our previous scanners, Leo gives us that flexibility to just pick up and go…    read more
